So far, scenario features were locked in child estimates. Now, when you create a child estimate and have scenarios in the parent, the scenario workbook of the parent is copied to the child.
When the child opens the scenario windows, he gets an adapted workbook which conforms to the WBS tasks he can see. He can freely edit this workbook, change figures, add his own scenarios, etc.
When the child applies a scenario, some target cells might be locked intentionally by the parent. E.g.: the parent let the child create sub tasks but locked the quantities of the passed tasks and branches. In this case, the child can change quantities the sub tasks but he cannot change them in the tasks passed.
QDV will adapt the quantities in cells which are not locked only and will bring a message at the end telling which tasks are not affected by the requested scenario because they are locked by the parent.
IMPORTANT: this is a “one way” function! This means that the parent passes his scenario workbook to his children but the children cannot pass back their scenarios workbooks to then parent. The scenario workbook of the parent is never affected by the merging process.
